Default Settings: What's The Most Effecient Way to....

What's the most effecient way to record the default settings of the Tracks themselves. And where do you save them? Some of the default settings are on the machine itself, and the track settings are different. Will I be wasting my time if I set up defaults for all 64 tracks? Can you save it so that each sequence will have the same track set up? Any help would be extremely appreciated.

depends on your studio and the kind of tracks you produce. for example, if you have two modules and a sampler, it'd make sense to set up your default sequence for how you normally used all your gear (so that each midi channel and midi out for each piece hooked up had its own track). then you should also make a default sequence that would send all the midi control and sysex messages t each device so your set up was exactly ready to record the way you wanted it to every time without fail.

if you're just using the mpc, however, i dont know. personally id feel kinda gay if i had my mpc set up so every time i turned it on i knew tracks 1-3 where for drums, 4 for bass, 5-6 for melody, etc...

however, if you're used to working this way (maybe you grew up on a mc-303) then there is nothing wrong with doing it that way.

It would make since to have some consistency. For one reason if you didn't save right or something went wrong , if you always set it up the same way you would know where the problem is. For example if you always had guitars on tracks 1-4 and those tracks were playing strings when you load it , you would know "hey those are supposed to be guitars". Also you could change different guitars sounds, but keep the same pattern. I t would be like your own personal general midi. I haven't found a good way to do it yet so if you find one hit the forum back. peace.

so far, i've been using the default settings for external midi gear... so i know which machines i'm using and on what channels. i appreciate the responses, i didn't even think of saving a 'default' sequence, i was stumped to find out that no matter if i changed the default name of the track, it wouldn't come up automatically, it still said track 1 or track 2 not what I had in the default screen. saving a sequence solves the problem. as for this 'default' set-up making the creating process borring, I think labeling every track slows me down, labelling in real-time, however, would ease the pain.
