Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey yawl,

I have a '97 MPC2000 classic, and I have a column of dead pixels on the LCD display, towards the right side.

Has anyone out there had to replace the display before? How much is a replacement part, and where do I get them?

Also, can I swap it out myself, or am I going to need a tech to do it? I do have some low-level experience with electronic equipment, but if it's a really major deal I don't want to mess with it. I'm not worried about voiding the warranty because it ran out some time ago.

Thanks!

i had that problem too (on my classic), took it in for service, and turns out a loose connection from the audio in was draining power from the screen. they fixed the connection and now it works perfectly (the dead line on the lcd screen is gone)... so what i thought was a problem with the screen was actually a problem somewhere else in the machine.

moral is: unless you're good at electronics id take it in.
