Note off/ 16 levels question

On my xl I like to use the note off feature for some things when im on the 16 levels option. I notice that when I try and switch too quickly between pads though it will not play. It just mutes the whole sound. I'm just wondering if this is standard or if its just a bug on my mpc.

It's normal. Can be a pain in the ass sometimes. I often do it when recording a track. Refine your pad hittin skills.
