MPC Editor & Vista

Not often I ask a question....

Anyone got MPCEditor working under Windows Vista? It's a no-no for me, it opens and assigns samples fine, but that's it, Error #7 whenever I try to save or export, plus various memory issues causing auto-shut down of the app. Running it in XP compatibility mode doesn't help either.

I wasn't going to change for Vista in near future anyway. After that, maybe I won't change at all

It's been a slog getting Vista up and running - many of my apps needed upgrading, plus others needed all sorts of special install procedures. Luckily I still have an old laptop running XP so no biggie on the couple of apps I have problems with.

I would advise EVERYONE to wait on Windows Vista. Its just too new to be compatible with a majority of the software out. Unless the software was made with Vista in mind, it probably isnt compatible.At least not fully... Unless these developers offer some kind of upgrade or fix. I cant wait to get vista but i think i'll wait until at least some bugs are worked out!

Vista sucks bigtime, like most microsoft products when they're not out for a long time. Their strategy is and probably always will be to release a half finished product and provide tons of patches later on.

For professional purposes I use linux. I only use windows for audio stuff.

like smoove said, vista is too new.. all kinds of compatibility issues have yet to be worked out yet. give it atleast 6 mos before moving over from XP..

If you right click on the MPCEditor icon and tell it to use windows 2000 compatibility mode. I had to use this with a few other apps i run. Give it a try and post back if it works or not.

Nah, doesn't work for any of the compatibility settings.

To be honest, Im loving Vista now - had it forced on me as I had to buy a new laptop, but now that I've got past the initial install issues, it's working like a dream. Just make sure you chuck in loads of memory.

I am still in the sorting out stage, but I must say that I enjoy Vista too. It came with the desktop, plenty of ram and disk space. So far it works, fingers crossed!

wow, rough crowd. I am not a big Windows Fan (buy a mac) but MPC Editor is working fine for me in Vista, SP1.

I didn't have to run in compatibility mode either, it just works. Do you have the latest version of MPC Editor?

32-bit or 64-bit Vista?

what does error 7 mean? are you tryig to save to your hard drive or are you trying to save directly to your zip/cf disk?

Did you contact the software vendor for support?

...screenshots, error messages, system diagnostics -- these could be helpful too.

Vista is fine, as long as the first two things you ever do in Vista are these:

1. Update to SP1
2. Disable UAC (User Account Control)
