So I think this is the first time Ive actually started a thread on a forum, but I thought peeps needed to know about this:
About 2 weeks ago, I ordered this card reader:

Finally, this morning it actually arrived. Only it was not the reader on the website. It is just IDE, doesnt say anything about ATAPI. It doesnt even have all the card slots it mentions, only a Compact Flash slot, and an ATA card slot.
In my hast I failed to notice any of this, and carried on installing it!!
It makes a horrible beep when you turn the mpc on, and the power and drive activity lights come on, but no device can be found in the load/save screen.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! Back to the zips!
