MPC2000XL CARD READER HELP????

YO WHATS UP EVERY1,
I JUST INSTALLED MY NEW CARD READER IN MY 2000XL. IT SAYS ATAPI IN THE DEVICE FIELD BUT THE HD ICON DOES NOT COME UP AND IT SAYS FILE NOT READY IM USING A 512 MB SD CARD. DOES THE SD CARD NEED TO BE FORMATTED ?? ANY IDEA WHATS UP??

yes the card needs to be formatted and ive read endless posts on here about how SD cards always have problems... I have Compact Flash cards and they work like a charm ... hope this helps

I didn't have to format my cf card though. Get a cf card!

cf are better with a cf you can get up to a 4g with no prob i use dane elec 4gig cf and pny 2gig.to me those work the best . sco

4 Gigs??? I thought the limit was 1 Gig....

no dane elec i use 2gig and 4 gig cf cards no prob. from what i see is going on its got to be the differince in card readers you up grade to or not
i got mine done in repair shop out here in cali at a spot called cae sound in san mateo
they orderer the cared reader from akai cause when i got my machine back i had problem i tryed to use sd cards etc with no luck so i called cae sound and they gave me a no. to akai i guess and the man told that its common prob with the readers they seem to work best with cf cards only
and the card they gave me with the unit was a dane elec cf 1 gig.
i found later that any other card i used didnt work like memorex i tryed to up grade my os to the 120 using the memorex cf it would not let me. i then used the dane elec they gave me no prob. so i bought dane elec cf cards on line from amazon 2 ig took a chance it worked no prob then i tryed a pny tech from comp usa 1 gig 2 gig no prob then i got a 4gig dane elec no prob dane and pny is the best so far in cf cards . ok s

Cool. I use PNY 1 Gig Compact Flash Cards anyway, I havent even heard of Dane Elec until you mentioned it, and I have the new Blue Akai MPC 2000XL MCD I am using, I forgot the OS Version Number.
