adjusting the bit rate of mpc2000xl?

i'm about to buy an mpc of some kind but want to know if it's possible to sample at different bit rates on the mpc2000xl? i'd like to be able to sample at 12 bit or even 8 bit but would prefer the extra features of the 2000xl rather than getting the mpc60. this will be my first mpc so any info would be really useful. thanks.

On the 2Kxl, you can re-sample to 12 or 8 bit and also adjust the quality of the sample/resample to High, Medium, or Low ...peace

Or, you can do the "poor mans version". sample to your 2kxl, then record it to a regular tape, then sample it back to the 2kxl.
