Internal Zip Drive Problems

Today when I put a disk into my mpc, it wouldn't load up succesfully.
it made two large clicking noises and thats it.

I tried putting the same disk in for about 10 minutes and it still wouldn't load up.

Its quite annoying, I have bad feeling im going to have to take my mpc apart again.

Is this the case? or do all mpc zip drives do this after being used for a while?

I would try a different disk first - it's more likely to be the disk over the drive itself.

I tried every disk I had (which is about 30)

Then a couple mintues ago I opened my MPC up, and took a look inside the drive. and fiddle with it, not like hard or anything.

I figured i either keep inserting disk into it and out or actually do somthing and maybe see if anything is wrong in the drive.

I don't know what to say, because i never seen what a drive looks like inside. so i cant exactly say if everything is operational or not.

If it's doing it with all disks, then it's the phenomenon called 'click of death' which can affect zip drives with age. time to buy a new zip drive I'm afraid (or look at other storage alternatives).

The External zip drive will work for you that way you can still use your 30 disk that u have now.

One last question how much will a scsi cable+zip drive cost me, and where can i pick them up?
Im running low on cash, and im not too happy to be going back to computer programs so i want to get back on my mpc ASAP

I'd just like some more help as far as choosing the right Zip Drive goes.
I'm going to by a 100mb Drive mainly because All my zips are 100 and all my beats are on my zips. . .

I apologize for asking so many questions, normally I'd search the web throughly for this kinda stuff. But I'm up and school and I don't get the opprutunity to hit the web up to often.

No you are going to need a 50pin male micro to a 25 pin male db scsi cord, I cop my cables from compusa because they have a wide and huge array of cables. And if u check around you can find that drive for less than 100.00 bucks.......a lot of cats might disagree with me but ebay is the place to check If you get something from there ask the seller mad questions before you cop it because once you get it you are on your own......I got mine from ebay for 38.00 bucks 100mb drive so do your homework before you jump family

With Ebay you have to be careful. Make sure the seller offers a money-back guarantee, make sure he/she has a lot of positive feedback, and always pay by credit card. If youre going through paypal, you might as well pay for the money back guarantee option... if available.

I've read somewhere if you have the click of death on a zip...you can get a replace for free from IOMEGA. Give them a call...it couldn't hurt.

yes. the drive will work. as for the cable, why not go to a local compusa? If it doesnt work, you take it back.
