Hooking up a harddisk to an MPC & Win XP.

PEACE! Who can help me out with this one....

I got an external SCSI harddisk (2.1 GB) wich I use to load files from to my MPC2000XL. I formatted it with the MPC and makes three partitions of appr. 700 MB each. It works perfectly.

On my PC I got tons of drumsamples wich I all want to save to the harddisk so I can load these files to my MPC without havin to **** with floppydisks or even resample them. I can hook up the harddisk to my pc cause I got a SCSI card. The problem is that my pc doesnt recognize the type of disk and I need to format it first. As soon as I do this (FAT16) my MPC cannot read the disk any more. The funny thing is that when I format a floppy on my PC an drop files on it my MPC has got no problem reading it and visa versa (formatting with MPC and reading it my PC). Can anyone tell me why this probem occures when using the harddisk???

PS. I tried updating to the latest OS for the MPC
(I had to go back to the old OS cause the MPC wasnt able to create different partions anymore while formatting the disk)

actually it should work , only thing i've heard of is that windows makes all partitions exept the first one unreadable for ur mpc

Its like both machines read another part on the disk to get their information from. For example:

When I format the disk with my MPC and in my case make 3 partitions, Windows can't read the disk. The only thing I can do than is format it with Windows so Windows can read the disk. Then when I read the disk with my MPC again it sees the 3 partions wich it made before. I can't seem to get the disk on the same level for both machines.

That's the main problem with harddisks, zipdrives and scsi cardreaders don't have that problem.

you should install (or get installed) a 250 zip drive or a memory card reader. Then you can transfer your samples easier i guess.
i could see how floppy file transfers would get tedious.

Mabye a better solution but thats what we thought of.

I use a harddisk just for saving files and a internal zip drive to transfer files to and from my pc

i having same problem when working with card reader,i have card reader in both PC and MPC but when i format the 4gb card in pc and save all the files into it,the mpc is unable to open.is just same situation as explain below but with card readers in both pc and mpc.................please help
