Question About Sounds To A CD For MPC2000xl

I only tried this once but I had dl'd some sounds to load in my scsi cd rom drive for the mpc 2000xl and it wouldn't read it. Now, they were wav files and I burned it as a regular cd...but should be in a data cd form and or is the bitrate too high? I thought it was 96 but can't remember..just wondering how I can do this for it to read properly. Do I have to convert these files into something else? I havenlt tried it since I bought a korg x50 but still would like to use some of these sounds..any suggestions?

By "a regular CD" do you mean you burned it as a data CD? It has to be a data CD and it has to be 16-bit 44.1KHz if I remember correctly.

Yeah I made a data cd and a music cd on a cd-r. I'll try it again..now if it's not 16bit and 44.1 khz, can I change that?

It will not read a music CD. It MUST be a data CD. There is no ripping involved here. If the .wav files are not 16-bit and 44.1KHz, you should be able to save it as a 16-bit 44.1KHz .wav from what sample editor you are using. As far as bulk conversion, I think its possible but I don't know what program will do bulk conversions for you.

Alright, here is my deal now. I have a sound. Wav file, 16bit, 44.1khz

Now I'm using an Imac G5, I tried burning it with itunes but it won't read in the scsi cd drive. So I read from you guys it has to be a data cd but or in data format? Now I'm using regular cdrs..not "music cdrs" just like reg sony or memorex cdrs. My question is, what prgram on an imac will make me a data cd? Cause it's in the right format, the sound file is but the burning is another question.

No one mentioned that when you convert samples recorded in 96 kHz to 44,1 kHz , it's good to enable dithering. Otherwise the frequencies above 'standard' range will be truncated.
