Ive read a lot of pages on here concerning the 2000XL's card reader, and every link given is sold out or usb. That is ok, if i plan to get a card reader and move up from a internal zip drive i will shop for it myself. However in looking for this info I came across a long topic tht had all kinds of information i never knew. In this a O.s. called 1.14c is mentioned and was obtained from Mpc-tutor. Well i went to Mpc-tutor to look for this operating system and check out the Ebook and didnt see any mention of it. The XL O.s. it listed was 1.20 ... is this one newer than 1.14c... ?

I was thinking i could order the XL E-book and get this O.s but it didnt mention any O.s. in the product description.

Basically what im wondering is as of May 3rd 2007 what is the newest, best operating system (compatible with internal card readers) for the Mpc-2000XL.

1.20 is for card readers, and 1.14 is for non card readers. I dont think there is any difference in the operating system besides the way the cards are formated to be reconized by the computer. I could be wrong but from my experince thats whats up

I had OS 1.05 or something...When I upgraded to 1.14 and fitted a card reader I noticed my mpc couldn't handle the whole of the 1GB I had. So I upgraded to 1.20 and everything is fine now.

thanks ... i appreciate the answer. I thought the higher the number in the o.s. the newer the version but i wasnt sure after reading old forums. I shouldve checked the topic post date and used my common sense but this 1.14c discussion had me buggin out. Just trying to get everything in line to get the most from my XL.
thanks again

1.20 is for addressing up to 2gb cards on a single partition. I have 1.14 and an internal MCD. runs fine with my 512mb lexar compact flash cards.

thats good news

so i guess 1.20 is ideal for storage, and 1.14 is good enough for most? Is their any difference in operation, options or quality of the two?

thanks for the insight.
