Cursor [down] Gone Stiff!

ok the down key on my cursor is getting extremely frustrating, i have to press it quite firmly for it to register. Tips and suggestions on how to Clean it please. Im thinking a can of compressed air? Open the lid up and manually clean it, It could have a bit of grit in there after all the years. Any knowledge would be greatly appreaciated.

sounds like you need to replace the little contact switch connected to the circuit board..

IMO try the easy stuff first. Take the cover off and used that can air. Also make sure that there is nothing in that away, like food or something.

i opened it and cleaned it out, a turned the curson upside down, as the down button got so much more use it was more worn out.

I recently replaced a couple of really stubborn contact switches on my MPC. You can buy them from VST fairly inexpensive. However I warn you the job to replace them is not easy. You need to know your soldering and desoldering chops. There is another solution for buttons that need 2 or 3 pushes to activate that I stumbled on whilst replacing my switches which I'll publish once I've confirmed it's a working permanent solution.

In the meantime try to keep your MPC dust free.

would a drop of wd40 work inside the tact switch, it seems to work wonders with the joystick and buttons on my phone.
