Yeah i've looked at the Manual and searched on here.. but im still unsure if i have the right idea of what Program Changes are.

Can i do this?

Say i have my four programs (Drums, Bass, Keys, Vocals). But i need to use another (now i know you can only use 4 programs at once - but you can have more loaded up).

Will the Program Change allow me to say, change the Vocals PGM to my fifth program Synths within a sequence?

Or do i have the wrong idea of what Program Changes are?

Thanks.

That is exactly what program changes are meant for. Just experiment with them, it won't destroy your mpc.

So My theory was right. You can use more than 4 programs. the main constraints are I can't have more than 24 Programs and no more than 256 sounds, which I use 2 programs for drums and percussion 1 Program for my sample and scratches and usually 1 program for bass, but I always wondered about this.

i wish you could use all 24 at once, as long as it constrained the the 256 sample limit. that would be awesome.

LOL, we need to start a petition so we can get an update to the OS. Send a copy to Akai to get them to release their Source Code, and another copy to JJ or Rojan to get the work done along with a list of good ideas to put in the OS.

I can never get program changes to work right. It seems that people explain how to do it but I never actually seen anyone get it to work correctly. I think theirs a bug with it in my opinion. Ive been trying to get it to work for 3 years now.

What's up Jacpot? I haven't seen you log onto IM lately. You must be busy cooking up some heat. I'm about to mess with the program changes later on when I get home from wherever I go out tonight.

you can always save the seq to another and change the program on the second seq. that way you just change seq and your prog changes with it.

You think that would realy work? Doesnt sound like it. I gotta try it when I get home. I would have thought that if you rearange the programs in a copied sequence that it would fuk up the original sequence. If this does work than thats dope :!:

if you copy the original to a new seq. say seq1 over to seq2. then the new seq could use any pgm's and the original is unafected. its no different than working on 2 different songs at the same time. your just using seq1 as a templet for the new song. you could just erase the tracks that are not needed with the pgm change and record the new stuff on them.

4 active programs means you can only have 4 active, the others can be loaded but not running/active. You can use pgm changes to swap out any at any point in time that are loaded but active will always and only be 4.
