My screen just doesnt light up anymore. Sometimes it would die, then i would tap the screen, and it would come back on. It doesnt do that anymore. Now i need to put a light directly on the screen to see, and its starting to hurt my eyes. I looked for instructions on how to install a new light, but i never found one for the 2000 or 2000xl. I searched the forums for various topics, and not really finding what i need. I took apart my mpc the other day, and i could not find out how to get to the led. And if i did find it, it would be no good, because i dont know where to get the led?!?! Can someone help? I know we got some mpc genius's in here. Thanks in advance, peace.

These type of LCD screens do not use an LED. They have a back light.
U said you had a to tap it before and now tapping it doen't work. That sounds like a bad connection and over time the connection has severed completely.
Perhaps you should call Akai for suport on this issue.

Na it wasnt that i tapped it, i would have to like, slamn the screen. But im pretty sure its just the backlight that dimmed away, and sometimes just fade back in. If it is just the backlight, anyone got any help to fix it.

My screen in my 2000 had to be replaced. I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood around $200-$300. I can't remember right of hand.

I´m searching for a way to replace my lcd `cause it shows lines. I don`t want to pay 200-300€ for replacing it by the german akai service. During my research on the web I found some german dudes who replaced a broken backlight with 2 suoerbright LED`s. The instructions with picturescan be found here

http://www.stud.tu-ilmenau.de/~dath-mt/music/mpcumbau/MPCUmbau.htm

The text is only in german, but you can try to contact the by e-mail. Look at the pictures, it seems to work.
If anyone knows how to get an MPC 2000 LCD Screen as a sparepart or has a solution how to fix the problem with lines in it, tell me. The Lines in my display are getting more everyday.....

Peace

i just got on the waiting list for a new lcd screen, its 5 months before the people already on the list get there screens.ive been waiting months for the local guitar center to get in my screen ,they told me november but they never got it.anyone who needs a screen should call akai parts and get on the list (you dont need a creditcard or anything, just your info)plus maybe the bigger the list the faster they'll make em(hopefully)or you could be waiting a very very long time. its 140$ from akai plus shipping

I would check some computer forums. They seem to know how to fix everything. Im pretty sure they will find a way to replace that with a cheaper but better lcd screen...

OK I just asked around and this guy wasnts to know if it is a graphical LCD or a dot matrix LCD

If it is either one then yes you can make your own mod and make a much much better screen for cheap

Does the $140 include installation charges?
