Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Back again ppls. I'm not sure, but I think my MP will be shipping w/ 2Mb of RAM ( hopefully while taking out the 8 outs board he forgot and left the 32Mb in LOL) in case he put it back to standard this is what I want to know: I read the manual and it says 2mb=about 21.9 sec mono and 10.9 sec stereo which isn't a problem for me because I still have my soft-samplers intact so I will be editing larger file samples there and over to the mpc editor to save them for compatability. So does the 2mb have anything to do w/ speed like a regualar computer? And I know from the manual that I can store up to 128 samples now I would think this for storage on internal memory but is 128 if you have 32mb and less if you have 2mb if so how many samples will I be able to store? And are there any video and book tutorials on the MPC2k? I don't mind googling, but I was wondering if you cats knew of the best ones to refer me to that you would use/have used so I guess I pretty asking who is more reputable.
Thanks again and heads are way more cooler on here than on some other forums, so I think I might be a mainstay. Peace ya'll

Also like I said earlier dude took the 8 outs board which is cool, but I have these open slots in the back will those slots being exposed affect the machine you know like easier access for dust and etc.? Because it's just wide open back there. If so is there an alternative something I could use to cover them up? I was thinking a slim piece of masking tape. Let me know if that is a no-no and what alternative I can use or will affect the MP at all. Thanks again ya'll

Sorry had to edit again so I don't piss anyone off if these are stupid questions, but I am not new to production, but this will be my first MP that I own. I have used them the 3000 and 2000xl, but never owned one. I mainly have been using Reason, FL studio, MPD16/24, midi controller, etc.

The RAM of the MPC has nothing to do with the speed of the MPC like a computer. RAM effects the speed of your computer because a computer will let you work with data that cannot fit into RAM, but in order to do so it has to constantly swap parts of RAM that you are not using out to your hard drive for temporary storage. The MPC will let you use up to the RAM you physically have in the MPC, period.

The number of samples cannot exceed the maximum number of samples NOR the amount of memory you have. If you have 2MB you can fit 128 10K samples. But even if you had 32MB you could only fit 10 3MB samples, ya dig?

I'm a big fan of duct tape personally, WHATEVER the application is! Seriously, masking tape will probably be just fine, unless you want to use duct tape!

Peace,
KM
