recording...

i'm not getting this recording thing properly. i'm working with the mpc2000xl. now, how do you guys record your songs from the mpc to your computer?some people talk about, they record always one track after another into the computer. but how does this work? i mean how is the workflow?

for example i have 4 sequences that i want to put together in one song. do you blend off the tracks in the certain sequences that you dont want and then record each track into the software?? do u use for each track a new line in the software?

at the moment i put my song together in the mpc in the song mode. then when its done i record the whole song into the pc. but the problem is, when i compose my song in the song mode in the mpc not all tracks are saved in the song from all those 4 sequences. so, i can't record all the tracks individuelly. i hope u understand what i mean. my english sucks

i think I understand what you're asking. it can seem confusing when you're working with a beat that has changeups or more then one sequence. I have a way you can do it...

When I normally do it, I can usually get by with recording 8 bars of each track. then from there I can mute things and add effects, etc. once inside my daw.

but when you have multiple sequences and changeups that HAVE to be in the song, you can just record all the tracks of the first sequence, then any track that has a change up on the second sequence, you can record that to a new track in the daw and keep the rest as it is. just add a new track for every change up that you have. then once in the daw you can move, copy/paste things around..

if you're tracking out, song mode is useless, imo (in my opinion). just record each track at a time and like I said, when you get to a changeup, use a new line (track) in your software.
