Going MIDI Out on my MPC :-/

Hey guys...i have a Midisport 2x2 that's connected to my G5.

now...i'm going MPC OUT-A into IN-A of the Midisport.

but....when i hit the pads, i don't see the little light on the Midisport flickering.

when i hook up my Roland JP-8000 to the Midisport....the light wil flicker everytime i hit its keys.


all i'm trying to do is use my pads like keys (i don't have my jp-8000 on me right now,
so i wanna use my mpc as a controller for soft-synths, Battery, etc.).

I'm sure I have to switch some setting on the MPC, right?

It's good to create an empty program with notes assigned chromatically from pad A1, because in a newly created program, with no changes made, these notes are placed 'randomly' under pads.

yes ....it's really simple ... on the main screen just under the name of the track that is selected there's DRUM: __
here you have got to choose the midi chan. and the port like DRUM:1A

Then in your soft sampler/vst whatever choose the same midi input port and channel-

ah...you can also send program change with the PGM value on the left..

when you say create an EMPTY program...u're talking about a newly created program right?

just wanna make sure.

i have that midisport too . . . .i assume you're tying to use the MPC to control something else? . . go to the midi screen on the mpc and make sure that mode is set correctly and maybe try to change the in on the midi device. . .what are you trying to control with akai maybe i could help some more i used to just use my mpc to control other midi stuff with that same 2x2 midi sport. what mpc do you have?
