Sound quality question

I'm using mpc 2000xl. When I want to record some of my beats on my pc I plug the mpc thru olskool laboga amp to my sound card in (using 6,3 to 3,5 jack converter) but when i record the beat, the sound quality of record is not as good as when i play the beat straight from the mpc. I have very old sound card. Do you think that could be it? Should i buy new and good sound card?

so what is the best way to get the sound simillar (if there is any) to the mpc, when i want to record my beats on pc? better pc sound card could be helpful (maybe not exactly to get the same sound quality as on the mpc, but improve that from what is now)?

a better Soundcard is the only way to improve the Soundquality,try to connect the mpc straight to the Inputs of the Soundcard - The more cables/amp's u connect between ur mpc and the Soundcard the more quality will be lost - It also depends on the Prog. u use to record. Cubase for example sounds way better than Ableton Audition in my ears...

thanks for info. i use amp between mpc and pc, because when i record sound straight from the mpc to pc the sound sucks 100 x more. So i think that is pc sound card thing.

you shouldn't have to use an amp,just go from line out of mpc to a line input on your sound card,there should be 2 inputs on your computer sound card, mic input, and a line input.

don't use the mic input.

Yup, get a decent soundcard/interface with some ok converters and you'll be a lot better off... (Or a really nice soundcard/interface with really nice converters! and you'll be REALLY better off - I highly recommend the Metric Halo Mobile I/O line)

what you think about that stuff? will it work and will it be helpful to get sounds from my mpc to pc with good quality?

i would suggest this:

expensive but really good quality(400+$): rme hammerfal, motu 828, digidesign.

cheap way but still a good interface(100+$); esi waveterminal, m audio audiophile.

the e-mu 1212m would go great w/the mpc 2k. not too much money, and will probably slaughter anything in it's price range. it has spdif, and 1/4" combo so you can make a digi, or analogue connection w/the mpc.
