The MPC2000 is indeed not multitimbral.
You can use program change commands in a track to switch programs in a sequence.
Say you have a break in your song and you want to have a different loop/break/kit/ program in the break. Well, you can switch to a different program at the start of that sequence with a completely different set of sample assignments and then switch back to your original program when you get out of the break. Or another scenario is if you wanted the same kit from the verse but filtered/pitched etc. in another section of the song you could make a copy of your original program and do all your filter settings on your new program and use program changes to switch programs for each section.
Lot of potential uses. You just have to plan ahead.
The prog change assignments are well covered in the manual and on this forum.
