Hey guys i just got a mpc 2000xl (all upgraded ) and i figured out how to sample vinyl and sounds but i dont know how to get my drum sounds or any sound for that matter to record , well let me explain, i wanna make rap beats and i got a sample and picked out and my kick, snare, and high hat my problem is sequencing and recording, everytime i go to record it never comes out. I hear the count but it doesn't play back ( but i know it has to do with the quantizing/metromone stuff but can someone tell me what my settings should be on for a rap type beat or explain what this timing and tsig stuff is? I dont understand the notes, any help is appreciated, thanks

Well for a rap beat you're gonna want to go ahead to the menu subset area and click "YEAH G UP!!", but if you're trying to make techno go to "DANCE CRAZY MONKEY." MPC's only do those two types of music though, so for anything else you'll probably have to READ THE MANUAL AND SEARCH ON THE FORUMS.

lol, nah man. You forgot the 3rd button, "Super Southern Crunk Madness!!!!"

Are you pressing the pads when the metronome is going?
Do you have the track on or off?

you forgot to mention the popular, snare-less 'poetic backpack rap' function.

Mike, read up in your manual and actually DO what your reading about, push those buttons and do stuff that you read, it will all become clear during your moves throught the manual, until then you are spitting in the wind. Have patience and go through the manual, what you asked is detailed in there.

Oh man, you didn't see the RAP BEAT button on it? All you gotta do is press it and bam there's your beat.
