SCSI help needed

My mpc2000 is hanging up when i try to format the SCSI drive. When i try to switch from floppy to SCSI in disk mode, all i get is "Wait......." Anybody have the same problem?

did you try waiting?

are you sure the disk (is it zip?) connected to your scsi is a) working b) connected c) compatible ?

noted: it can really take a second to load from zip

true: sometimes that scuzzi/mpc action takes a few seconds... minutes.

The "Wait......." screen persists indefinitely. It happens regardless of whether the SCSI is even connected. In fact, it freezes like this while i am switching devices in disk mode with the data wheel (i am not even initiating the SCSI) and without even pressing any of the function buttons.

Can somebody please help? And by the way, what is F-ROM?

I just got a scsi drive today and am getting the same problem. I emailed Akai an hour ago to see what they say. I will post again once I figure it our.

I left off some info that may make a difference.

When using the OS 1.72 is when I get the eternal, "Wait......"
In OS 1.0, I don't get any response from the MPC.

After more research, I believe we have the wrong type of drive. I know I do as mine has no termination switch or scsi number option on the back, (4 or 5)

Yeah.That means the drive you have is a parallel drive not scsi.

I just started having this same issue and it's getting on my nerves
