What the hell is the matter?

Just got my mpc2000xl, and is pretty fun to use. However, i think i might have a defected one?

So i go to play my sequence on the pads. Whether this be a drum pattern, or sample. It sounds good as im recording it, with good volumee. However, when i play it back, the volume gets reduced greatly, except for every once in a while, when one of my pad hits is really really loud.

Ive recorded drum lines, where the snare is almost un audible.

Thats weird dude. Make sure all the chops are set at the same filters and volume, and they are all balanced in the mixing screen. maybe go through the step sequencer to see what the velocities are set at. I'm not quite sure.

LOOK for the Two knobs...VOLUME...and REC VOLUME. ... first make sure...when your sampling...that your almost Cliping...But not quite to the point where your mashing the sound. ... Now...look at the KNOBS again...

TO THE LEFT...there are two buttons....

16 levels...

and FULL LEVEL...

make sure the FULL LEVEL..light is on. .. (the 16 levels should not be).

this makes your pads equal as far as velocity goes. No matter how hard you hit them, they will play at full level. ... hence the title.
