Question aBout Triggering Samples in this Video

when Damu triggers the samples they seem to stay in sync with the other samples already playing, kind of like ableton Live, how is he doing that. when he hits the pads nothing happens and then the sample starts playing right in time with the others. does his paticular mpc have the feature of syncing samples like acid or Live or since that's unlikely what am I missing

hes muting and unmuting tracks using the track mute function which is on all mpc's
