MPC2000xl:v bad sampler or broken rec gain?

I just bought the 2kXL but there are some problems with the sampler. I can't record it without my sound distorting. Even if i get the sound almost right, the wave-form in the Shift+trim window will be almost invisible. Yesterday i even recorded a piece of vinyl with the rec gain closed!

What could be the problem here? Please help me out!

My Technics SL-1210MK2
is hooked to my behringer ub802, the UB802 to the record in of the MPC...

i've also tried to do it like this: TT to amp phono in, line out to MPC record in

+

PC phones out to MPC record in...

I always become the same problem:
-immediate distortion, even if the peak is only in the middle, no wave,rec gain only half open
