can i hear loop while sampling in the mpc?

hi i am having trouble hearing my loops/sequence in my mpc when im sampling

exp... i made a loops on mpc but i want to make a melody on my keyboard to go with the loop in my mpc.. but whn i sample the mpc mutes all sounds coming out of mpc while i sample something out of mpc.

is there a way i can record/sample my keyboard or any other external device directly to mpc while the mpc plays the loops or is it all internal?

i have the 2000 xl if its possible how do i do it?

The 500 can do it, and probably the 2500 and 1000 but not too sure about those (cause I've never messed with them).
