Pad sensitivity messed up?

So I loaded some drums onto my mpc 2000(xl), tried creating a lil loop or whatever....and I noticed that whenever I was trying to do 8th notes or anything like that...I had to literally BANG ON IT. Not cool! I'm def thinking this doesn't make sense, and if it does...well then...forget the MPC.

I did a search last night regarding the subject, came across something about the pad sensors beneath the pads. I would go right ahead and try to order the pad sensor sheet...but here's the thing...

When I hit the "full level" button, they all hit fine - no problems. Without that button on, though...I have to bang on it or squish the pad down right in the middle for it to sound....and when it does sound, it's never loud enough.


Question: Pad problem? or Sensor sheet problem?

It's pissing me off. ..

sounds like its PERFECTLY FINE. With full level on...as you know...
Any type of hit, will make the sample come out in full level, hence the name.
When the Full level is OFF...It all depends on your fingers, and pressure in which you hit the pads. IF THIS IS TOO DIFFICULT for you.. what you can do is this....


Hit the 16 levels, and look for the velocity option.
Hit the pad you want to put the option to...

Now all 16 pads will be that one sample...in different velocities. (from lowest volume to highest volume)

I could try that...but are you sure theres nothing wrong with the sensors? I tried it again, experimenting on FULL LEVEL....in which I realized I also have to precisely hit a given pad for it to sound. I would hit a pad like 2-3 times and it wouldn't sound unless I banged on it, right in the center.

and if that's normal...well damn...who wants an mpc2000xl?

If you HAVE to hit it dead center to make a noise then maybe you DO have a faulty MPC. In which case you should look into replacing the sensors. There is also i way in which to increase sensitivity of the pads...Do some research on that, since im not Exactly sure on how to go about it. (ill look into it). But done blame The Xl, for something YOU might be doing wrong. Remember your NEW to this. And this Machine HAS done it ALL. Been doin it FOR LONGER then youve been in this HipHop ish. Give it some credit. lol.

A few days on the machine, isnt enough for you to make broad statements. SOME OF US..DO WANT..the machine, and live fine along side it.
