Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

This is driving me crazy. Whenever I load a Deep Kick Drum from my floppy, I hit Do IT. I sample the sound with the "Play" the kick is perfect no popping or anything, but whenever I assign it to a pad and sample it, it keeps giving me a pop. I have messed with it in Cool Edit, Changing the envelopes, etc. But I can't get rid of the pop. Would anybody have any suggestions? Thanks A Bunch..

Clicks and pops are the result of SUDDEN quick volume changes..

Zoom in with Cool Edit Pro and check the START and END of the sample closely.

If you have sharp drops or increases at the start point put a "fade in" of maybe 5 sample points for the attack (beginning).

For the end use a fade out of whatever you want but it must fade out smoothly to 0db.

This will eliminate the pops and clicks at the start and ends of your sample..

Of course experiment with your fades on different instruments when you encounter pops and clicks, it's not the same for every sample you use..

Thanks Lampdog, I will try that and get back.

Thanks Brother, That did the trick. I wasn't playing with the envelopes enough. What is weird though, is when you preview the sound on the MPC it sounds fine, but when you assign it to a pad and sample it, it pops.
