You can connect your turntable to a mic/instrument input on the presonus...

oh really, how does this work? i mean what cables do you need? at the moment i'm running the turntables direct into the mpc (record in right / left). i mean there are two cables to plug in. but the mic instrument input looks a bit diffrent and i guess just with one cable.

Which turntable do you have? Does it have a built in preamp?

i'm having the Technics SL-1200MK2 (i guess without preamps) which run into the Vestax mixer (with preamps) then into the mpc.

Which Vestax? I have a 07 and I don't like the sound for sampling.

SL12's don't have preamps.

I did it this way:
- audio out from mpc into session in on my vestax
- record out from my vestax into audio in on my mpc

If I was you I'd connect my sl to my presonus (mic/instrument) and an output of the presonus to the input of the mpc.

Be careful with loops though when going into the sampling menu of the mpc. I always turn down the session input on my vestax before going to the sample menu, otherwise I get a load of feedback.

i've got the vestax 06. but i'm still a bit confused about the mic instrument plugin  i can't visualize how it should look like. how you connect it, what cable to use? i mean the mic instrument plugin looks a bit diffrent then an analog input. strange. does a picture exist (like presonus hook up diagram) so i can understand?

anyway, thank u very much. you're a cool guy :D

From the presonus firebox faq:

Q: What is the difference between input channels 1 and 2 from inputs 3 and 4.
A: Inputs 1 and 2 are Mic/Instrument level inputs for connecting microphones via XLR plugs and guitars via ΒΌ inch plugs. Input channels 1 and 2 have gain knobs located on the front of the FireBox. Input channels 3 and 4 are Line level inputs for connecting devices like keyboards, drum machines or a mixer's left and right outputs.

So you can plug in 1/4 cables:

And xlr cables:

If you go check them out, ask the guy at your local music store and he'll probably hook you up with everything you need (cables, adapters, ... ) to hook up your firebox. Like I said, this is a very decent audio interface and I don't think you can go wrong with something like this.

If I was you I'd connect my sl to my presonus (mic/instrument).

but is this possible to connect my turntables into a mic input??
