Ok, I DO use stretching occationally when I want to match the key of a loop I know I want to add.

What I want to know is, does the algorithm chosen on the stretch screen affect the BPM MATCHING PROCESS?

yes it does.you can notice slight differences when you try a few presets on a bass sound for example.it may sound better or worse of course.
