Don't completely undertsand load or save

I just got my Mpc 2000XL stuio plus off of ebay without an manual? I have made some pretty tight drum patterns but I haven't been able to save them because I don't have a cd rom or zip drive. What's the purpose of having 2 storages because on some website this dude said that I should just get a cd rom and zip drive? Do I load stuff on the cd rom and save stuff on the zip or what?

Look at it like this: CDs are an inexpensive media that can be easily read from and duplicated. Depending on what size zip drive you have you can compare them like so. However keep in mind that the CD Rom format is mainly for storage and easy retreival of completed works. O.K. if you are using a 100MB zip drive one CD(700MB) is equal to 7 zips. Or if you are using a 250 MB drive one CD (700MB) is equal to just under 3 zips by 50MB. Now Zips are or can be your everday save and load for on the spot sampling composings and saving. The CD Rom for when you want to store or preserve your sound library. Again comparing the prices zip to CD, CD Rs are way cheaper and easy to store whereas zips can be $10 and up each. Using the combination just helps to keep your set up more organized and easier to access your stuff when you need it. Do keep in mind that the MPC has no burning engine so you would have to export your samples from zip to PC to burn your data/sound library etc; CD. And as long as you keep your filenames down to a 8 character max, you won't have any problems transferring or retreivng your works.

Doesn't the STUDIO version come fully Equipt......Zip.......Outs....FX etc

The Studio Plus does provided that's the one he got.

Well Maybe he got it wrong or the seller confused the issue by describing the MP wrong

Phatbeats: are you saying that you have a floppy drive and that you can't save all of your work on one floppy? If this is so you can save across multiple floppies, hence why so many people either ge the internal or external zip drives. Yeah it would appear that you have an older MPC. If it 's a Studio Plus then it's probably a couple of years old because in mid "2002 " they started coming equiped with the zip drive installed.
