Check to make sure the jumper is in the right position if you haven't already checked scsi ID 5

OOOOOOOOOk, let me see!!!!

1st off, It has nothing to do with SCSI

Device: ATAPI (or so) is what your looking for on the load page

Are you gettin any power to the drive? Will it accept and spit out the disk?

Hey your right Sue me, I literally gave mines away almost 2 years ago. However if he installed it himself the jumper problem is still one of the most obvious reasons for the problem he described. That much I remember clearly.

@ Captkickass: Why should he get a different name everybody
knows him by now under that name. I realy like dead ringers and the soulposition album is also pretty dope, imo he should stick to that name people will get confused and the other good names like shadow and premier are already taken.

unless it's really him, the guy posting shouldn't use it.

Hence the  .
Would be kinda funny though, having the real RJD2 on the forum, he surely could give us a lot of production tips :D

umm, thanks for the advice on the name, but ive been making records under this name for years now, so its not gonna change. you can change yours if you like, though. anyway, the drive gets power. it doesnt spit it out. when i scroll through all the drive options, it just says "no scsi device!"

is the "jumper" the cable-40, maybe 50-pin-that plugs from the machine to the drive? the power cable is obvously hooked up properly-i connected the drive exactly how the instructions say to...tried unplugging/plugging it, didnt change anything. on a related note, should i just jump ship to the 4k?

There are many reasons Id say cop a 4k....But not gettin a zip drive to work wouldn't be one of them though

Jumpers are the little plastic looking pulgs that cover two pins at a time on the back of the zip.

The jumper settings are different for different models of the Zip ATAPI drive. To set the jumpers on the drive, refer to the diagram that is located on the top of the drive.

Also, make sure the wide ribbon data cable, with the colored stripe is aligned with PIN 1 on the back of the Zip drive.

RJ,

It wasn't an attack on the Artist name, but against others using it as well as a forum alias. That's in bad taste.

Off the top of my head, there is a software update needed for the xl. This website has it in a tutorial somewhere. All Your Questions will be answered there.

PS, I loved Deadringer.

Depending on the size of the drive

100Mb>>>No

250Mb>>>Yes (If its unstable) 1.14C I believe (Nothing official, but it does the job...So im told)

You can find it here:

The data cable could be on backwards

The jumper in the back might be in the wrong place.

I use v1.14, 2kxl w/internal 250 and have never had any problems from day one..
