sampling using the cd drive is just sifty bro.

youll either have to convert the files to wav and stored them to zip disk and then load them in externally through a zipdrive,

or get a card reader

or sample and save to floppys using a turntable

or...

scsiforsampler (dot) com,has the cables your looking for. Also what /\ sort of said, the cd-r drive will only be able to load up samples, you'll need another drive to save(zip, card reader, floppy). Most would suggest as he did a cardreader.

Some general information:

First off, you will not be able to burn CDs with your MPC2000XL. You will only be able to read from a CD-ROM Drive.

Second, the CD-ROM Drive must be SCSI. And the scsi id is usually set to 3.

Third, the CD-ROM Drive must be compatible (or recognized by your MPC2000XL.

The scsi cable will be a 50pin (MPC2000XL-side) to a centronics 50 (cd-rom drive side).

Make sure you get a high quality scsi cable. Folks often favor price over quality, which be a big mistake.
