Card Reader Issue for 2000xl

I just got a 2000xl w/ internal card reader and a new 2GB SD card. ATAPI shows up under devices in the format screen but it wont register the card in the device for me to format it. Is a new 2GB SD card incompatible with the 2000xl's card reader? has anyone else had this problem?

MPC's won't read more than 1 GB. Issue solved.

The card reader came preinstalled.

Get compact flash cards. I never got anything but cf cards to work in my card reader. I know SD cards are really cheap, but they dont always work with the MPC. I use Sandisk 512mb cards with no trouble at all

Let me start by saying that my MPC is old. I got it right when the 2000xl first came out. I upgraded to an internal zip drive a few years after that and now I am thinking about installing another kind of card reader. Does anyone know if there is a way to install CF without having to change out my internal zip? I want to still be able to access the hundreds of beats I have on zip?

Im sure if I researched it I could find the info fairly quick but I thought I would see if any of my trusted MPC fiends have any thoughts/ideas on this.

f**k, I wish I had read more replies before I exchanged the 2gb SD stick for a 1Gb SD. MPC still wont register it. There isnt some sort of external formating that witth make SD compatible is there?

Usually to get my 2000xl to read an SD I'm having to put it in, go to load screen, pull it out and go to main screen, then put it in and back to load screen and finally I see my folders. Weird, huh? Got a 1gb CF in the mail today tho so who cares..

Hello everyone.
This week I'll install a self made cf reader in my mpc2000xl. I was using old version of OS (1.11). I know that I must upgrade my OS to work properly with cf. And now I have a question: can I upgrade OS to 1.20? I have old mpc and I don't know how it will working (on Akai's support page is written "OS V1.20 for the MPC2000XL MCD drives only").
