so at the start of this summer I found out I'd be going on holidays a bunch of times. I figured I'd swipe up an MPC off of ebay to bring along with me instead of my (huge) fantom. So I get it, and it's all good; the slider barely works but who cares right. Soon enough the end of the summer rolls along, and I successfully sell my MPC on ebay, for about the same price I payed for it nonetheless. Not bad eh?

I recieve payment, and then today, the day I'm supposed to send it, the data wheel breaks. I have no ****ing clue how, but now it just spins. No clicks, no sending of information, nothing. It wasn't like I was making a beat and spinning it and it broke in mid spin, no, it just stopped working out of nowhere. The only idea I have is that I had just recently took apart the MPC to try the slider fix (which didn't work of course, couldn't even get the housing off), but I distinctly remember the data wheel working on that day (I tried spinning it with the top off). Which leaves me in a very ****ed up situation. I told the buyer that he could expect a tracking number today....

the data encoder. i just replaced mine, bought it from VSTservice.com for 8 dollars. damn that sucks man, I remember when I was about to sell my old 2000 that the kid was coming to pick it up, then the pads died. luckily he didnt show up cause I was scared. but my problem was silly, the ribbon wasnt fully connected

hah so you can kinda feel my pain. I just sent the dude's $ back...I hope the fix is easy

man thats too bad. did you by any chance ask the buyer if they wanted you to fix it and then send it to them before sendin a refund? if it was me, i probably wouldnt want to wait but you never know.

if you need some help fixin that thing let me know. if you dont wanna be bothered, i might be willin to take it off your hands in current state if you work me out a good price and its in otherwise good shape.

if you know how to solder (in my case, my brother did, kinda) then it should be no sweat. i can't really tell you what went on cause i was playing video games away from him so i wouldnt distract him with my heavy breathing lol

Same problem here. I actually bought my mpc with an already dead wheel on it, so now I have to fix it myself. Yesterday I've ordered the spare parts from mpcstuff and I hope that I won't **** it when I will replace it.

Still, if anyone has done it, please share your experience before we totally destroy our mainboards.
