If I update my op to 1.20 will my xl detect my external zip?

Do I need a specific model zip drive? When I go to load off the zip drive my xl cant find the zip drive. Does anyone know what my issue is?

Is it an external scsi zip drive?

I don't have experience with this kinda problem but a lot of problems with scsi stuff is related to setting the scsi id's correct.

My boy has the same deal. I took my Iomega over there. Hooked it up and it immediatly brouht up the sounds. Not to sure though if he may have had any mods to his unit. He aswell did have the flash drive on his.
But it linked up, and we began bustin away.

I have an Iomega 100 plus zip. Older model for my 60ii. But it worked.
I asked the same questions a few weeks ago. Maybe posted somewhere in here.

Updating to 1.20 won't solve your problem - that OS is for the MCD (card reader) version, so if you have a floppy installed DO NOT UPGRADE! All OS's should work fine, but for the standard 2xl 1.14 is the last OS release prior to MCD

Is the drive sitting in between the MPC and the computer? If so, you'll have to disconnect from the 'puter to avoid a sharing violation.

Do you have other scsi devices in the chain or just a zip on its own? With scsi, the last unit in the chain MUST be terminated. Zip drives tend to have a termination switch built in, whereas hard drives and CDs often don't.

Check with another disk in case the one you're using is corrupted. If the disk content is backed-up elsewhere, try using the MPC to format the disk. What's the zip currently formatted to? Not sure if Mac format is accepted or not as I don't have a Mac. Should be in the manual?

Have you tried a different scsi cable? Again, check termination on the drive. If still no joy, you know anyone local who has a working zip drive? Only way to know is to try a drive that works on another machine. If that works, it's your zip drive, if it doesn't then there's summat up with your MP (try your drive on somone elses MPC, if you know someone, then you'll really be sure what's what).
