PARALLEL PORT DRIVE HELPPP

This question has probably been asked before but i got a parallel port iomega zip drive that i want to connect to my pc but the cable i have has pins on both ends so i assume there has to be an adapter to make it female rightt??

Normally you would use the male to female cable that came with the drive.

Pilchard is correct! He has illustrated for you, the correct cable that will connect a parallel drive to the parallel port (printer port) of your pc.

What you have described as -pins on both ends- is a scsi cable that will not work with a parallel drive.

Try ebay for locating a paralel cable.

thanks for the info... but i got a cable like he has on the pic and i connected it to the port in the back which i believe is a printer port so it will not work correct??? i feel like such a newbie lol

Verify and confirm that your parallel zip drive has NO switches between the ports at the rear of the drive. It should a z100p or z250p model.

Verify and confirm that the port on your pc is a printer (parallel) port. Some folks have confused a parallel port for a scsi port. They look the same on your pc.

If you are sure you have a parallel zip drive, you need to connect the port marked [ZIP] to your computer using the cable.

Thanks for the links and info, i figured out what i was doing wrong. I was missing the software that detected the drive on the computer but i got it straightened out
