loading sounds from a external cdromdrive&external zipdrive?

can anybody tell me excatly!!! how to load sounds into my mpc 2000 using a zip drive & cdrom drive??? because i had got a 100mb drum zipdisk & when i try to load it in the mpc says?????? does anybody know why??? & when i try to load in sounds from a cd rom it doesn't load in the sounds either so can someone please help!!! me please? because i haven't had my mpc 2000 long marc ny

Check the connections to see if they are nice a snug. Check the jumpers in the back of each device. The 2k/2kxl by default is SCSI ID 6 so your other external devices need to be set 1-5 or 7. If you still can't get it working you MIGHT have a parallel device.. In which case they don't work with the MPC and you'll have to get a SCSI device..

12:09pm wass good dogg?? anyway i have my epson/iomega 100mb zipdrive hooked up to my mpc 2000 with a brand!! 2ft DB25 to 50pin centronics scsi cable that i had just got yesterday from--> PCCABLES.COM & i had just tryied!! to load some sounds from this 100mb zipdisk that i had got from this other mpc user and for some strange!!!! reason the mpc is saying type =??????????????????? and i have the cable plugged in on the right side where the scsi id is set to 6 & when i had hooked up my plext or external scsi 12x cdrom it didn't load in the sounds either all i know is that i had seen a little picture of my cdrom and i really!!! need to get these sounds in my mpc 2000 dogg because i wanna be able to make some hot tracks with just the sounds from a zip disk or sometimes using a cdrom that has hot sounds on it ya feel me? & i dont wanna be able to make drumz from a floppy drive then go to a midi sound module ya feel me? so if you have a mpc 2000 please help me out and let me know excatly!!! how you are loading in your sounds from a zip disk or a cd rom with sounds on it ok dogg? peace...... marc ny

Do you have a boot up disk? In any event try downloading a new one.

I just got my MPC what do I need to load up sample disk and to save my data. I know I need a zip drive but someone told that may also need a cd rom. Is a zip drive for saving or loading or both? Someone please help me Also what is the internal zip drive for?

PHATBEATS!! what version of the mpc 2000 you got the regular version or the mpc 2000XL?? because if you have the mpc 2000 then you will need to get your self a iomega 100mb external scsi zipdrive which you can get from ebay easily because i had got my external scsi epson/iomega 100mb zipdrive for only$12.75 and its in exxxxxxxxcellent condition & its like new & its the excat color shade as my mpc 2000 studio & the plextor 20x cdrom i got was for$10 and it was like brand!!! new and works fine and if you can't find a good working zip/ or cdrom drive from ebay you can go to scsiforsamplers.com & ask for jd and he can sell you a brand new external sony 12x cd rom drive for$50 & his # is 1-866-244-0376 & he sells the memory too to upgrade your mpc 2000 or xl ya feel me? now if you have the xl version of the mpc 2000 that has the built in internal scsi drive then there's no need to buy a external one ya feel me?? but i always tell cats all the time to buy the mpc 2000/ or the xl without the internal 100mb scsi zip drive ya know why??? because are you gonna wanna carry a mpc to the studio noooooooooooooooooooooo because all you gotta do is lace your beats from a cd rom then save them on a formatted 100mb zipdisk then bring the zipdrive & your zipdisks with your beats on to any studio that has a mpc 2000xl or a mpc 4000 & then you could them them all right in & then you'll be happier then a hooker making tips phats & its even more convient when a studio has the same midi set up as you do because i use the roland a-37 its a 76 keyboard controller and its hoooooooooot!!! to death too & a korg trinity rack & roland jv1080 with the vintage expansion board in it & the emu vintage pro 128 voice module with the ensoniq/project rom in it that has all of the ASR 10 sounds in it

I have the 2000XL studio plus. Don't get irritated, but your saying i really don't need a internal zip drive. Is it to save stuff to I'm still confused dog!
Break it down a little better. Just tell me what the internal zip drive is for what a external zip drive is used for and what a cd rom is used for. And tell me what should i get in order to make beats and save the sequences , samples and etc...

yes!! beats the 100mb external zip drive is for saving your beats and the only thing you can do with a cd rom drive is load in samples only!(not for saving your beats ok) & imma tell you right now dawg 90% of kats especially on ebay are selling sample wavfile roms for$10 to$20 & they are NOT!!!! formatted for the mpc 2000 or the xl version or the mpc 4000 so dont!!! get jerked or fooled aight!! but i will tell you that the same place that sells the drives and the cables also sells the sound sample cds in akai format to load in your cdrom drive that u should have or buy to use with your mpc 2000xl now i hope that i helped you out beats aight!! ONE.....

They don't need to be Akai format. I burn wav CDs on my fricken Mac, and I can load them with my MPC's CD-ROM drive. No problem.

CDROM = Compact Disk, read only memory. READ ONLY.
*Note* There is NO BURNING via CDROM.
*Note* 2k/2kxl don't have ANY burning capabilites within the OS.

ZIP = Internal (IDE) / External (SCSI) both can read AND write.
