Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Luigi Sun Sep 02, 2007 7:27 pm
Ive read about every post on this forum about zip drives, and xp, format formats, ntfs, fat, fat32, etc etc.

I have the 2000xl, with the latest, 1.2 OS, I also tried with the older 1.14 OS.
I got Windows XP on a Ntfs drive.

I want to move files from xp to the mpc, and back, I have made this work before, but I hade another computer. I have an integrated zip drive in my computer, and one external connect to my mp.

100 meg zips.

I installed win 98 on a separete, FAT, harddrive, then I formated the zips on win98 .
Then I started my xp drive, here I could open the zips, I put a folder with some waves in it.

Put when I put the zip in the mpc, it doesent find the files, why is this???

I also tried formating on the mpc, put the computer wont recognize the disk, I tried this all with the 2 latest Os.

could anyone help, please? I really dont know what the problem is. and I tried it all. peace

MPC2000XL => Version 1.14 OS
MPC2000XL MCD => Version 1.20 OS

Not sure if you are formatting your disk with your MPC first before copying files over. But, formatting the zip disk with your MPC2000XL is INCORRECT ! Copying .wav files on an MPC2000XL-formatted disk, using your computer, and then attempting to access the .wav files on your 2000XL will fail.

When you format a zip disk on the computer, the available filesystems are NTFS, FAT12, and FAT. You must format your zip disk with filesystem FAT.

The procedure is as follows:

1. Use a 100MB zip disk that has NOT been formatted by your sampler.
2. With the zip disk in your zip drive connected to your computer, format the disk
- on the Format Windows Screen, select FAT in filesystem
3. Now go ahead and copy (drag and drop) your .wav files on the newly FAT-formatted zip disk.
4. Insert disk into MPC2000XL internal zip drive and ALL .wav files will appear and be available for loading.

That's it!

This should work.

Hope this information helps you!

I got it to work now.

I did format it on win98, fat, then put it in the mp. but it still didnt work

I downloaded some program from Iomega, and formated it with that, then it worked fine! :D
