8-out board questions. Transfer from classic to xl?

Ok so I got my 2000 Classic for £90 but hankering after the extra features of the XL I just picked one up for £250. I'm now selling the classic and want to transfer it's 8-output board to the XL.

What I want to know is does the metal plate need to stay with the classic or move to the XL? Also I have seen pics of the board with the digital in/out on RCA connectors rather than the quarter inch jacks? Is the version with jacks just earlier?

You have the MUTEC version.
The Akai version uses RCA (phonos).
