2 newb questions on recording sample

im very new to the mpc world and im having trouble with my 2k.

1. i got my sample recorded onto a track but when i switch programs to go lay down some drums i cant hear the sample i just recorded. how can i lay down more tracks and still be able to hear my sample?

2. im also having a trouble getting the count to synch with the sample. i matched the tempos up but the count is way off. is there a certain technique that im not aware of or is my rythym just screwed?

why don't u put ur drums on the same program as the sample? i know you can't be workin with too many sounds to where u need more than one program

use tap tempo to try to get it close and then adjust the tempo by small degrees until it synchs up. use your ear

the mpc 2000 can only play 1 program at a time the 2000xl is a different story .. as far as the tempo goes alot of people experience this when they start on the mpc. sometimes its because the music wasnt played to a metronome so its slightly off beat alot of times so you either need to take or add tiny bits to or from the sample.
