Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hey guys whats goin on. i've been making beats with reason and cubase for almost 2 years now and i just bought a 2000xl like 2 days ago. The problem i'm having is i have my kits (converted them to .pgm thru mpcpgmmkr) loaded up from my 1gb SD card. I load up a kit to bank A..then i try and load in some guitar samples into bank B, but as soon as i try loading into bank B it'll give me a not enough memory error. Also, my samples are loaded up thru ATAPI..now i don't know if thats the name for my memory card slot or what...but when i search on F ROM nothing comes up..BTW when i try saving a song or sequence..it'll save into ATAPI..but the next time i turn the mpc on it's gone. Believe me i've been looking thru the manual for the past hour can't find the answer so please guys any help would be appreciated. stay up

The MPC2kxl loads its workflow on the ram and process everything from there. This means that whatever ATAPI(i.e. external storage device) you're using with whatever storage limit, the MPC will still depend on its RAM. Your MPC has probably 2 MB standard RAM installed, which means that you are working with that limit. Cop some RAM of ebay and raise that limit to 32MB, which is more than enough for the MPC style production.

When you are saving your projects, bare in mind to scroll with the DATA wheel over and save both All sequences and songs and All programs and sounds. Don't forget that you have to rename everything, otherwise your MPC will **** up and start overwriting shit.

I think the above are more tha enough for you to get going.

how big are the files?

check the manual and find the instructions for the window that tells you how much onboard memory you have.

or just straight up sample from an analogue source.

yea I think it has something to do with the onboard ram. I probably need to get the 32 mb upgrade..been hearing that a lot now that I think about it. I'll double check when I get home. Also, another question I had was about rack synths. I'm probly gonna be buying a motif soon (don't think i'll be able to use all my vsts and stuff with my mpc..??) so would i just go MIDI i/o into the i/o of the motif? And would it record into my mpc as midi be quantized etc..? once again respect everyone.
