Saving problem on the 2000XL

Hey everyone. I got another problem again.

When I get a song up on my MPC and I got it to save on a floppy disk, I bring it in to my computer and bring the song out. For some odd reason, when I play it on my computer, it plays a weird piano sample in which I hit the pads on. I originally had played with it with the sounds that it had given me, and it ends up with a weird piano sequence or song. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I'm not 100% sure but unless it's audio your bringing into your pc and playing...then your computer is just playing back midi notes, which in windows i think is just a basic piano sound that it converts the data to. Midi has no audio..just data..so you have to record your song from the mpc into a DAW(digital audio workstation) on your comp, then go from there.

Agreed, this just sounds like another instance where you don't understand what MIDI is, and that's all your saving is the sequences.

You need to save ALL sounds and sequences for a complete backup of your work. Either you have a ZIP drive or you'll need a stack of floppys, but it's highly unlikely you've got an entire loop or beat that fits on one floppy disk.

Get in the habit of making a beat, saving all sounds and sequences and tracking your work as soon as you've got it sequenced up the way you want, even if just a stereo bounce for now.

I typically don't even save my sounds and sequences. I track as I go for the most part directly into Cubase, before editing the sequences into the format of the song and then bouncing each sound individually to be brought into Pro Tools for mixing. At most, drums and a few sounds here and there are actually coming out of the MPC, the rest are typically VSTs or samples being used in Cubase itself.

If you aren't working with a DAW and tracking as you go then you need to save EVERYTHING to be able to recreate your work later.
