I've recently just upgraded from the 2000 classic to the XL mainly because I was being limited by the availability of only 1 program in the 2000.
I've got them both in the studio at the moment until I sell the 2000.
I just thought I'd mention some of the differences other than the features that are regularly documented on here, mainly to do with build quality and feel, that I've experienced.
Basically the build quality of the 2000 seems much more solid to me than the XL. The rubber pad layer in my XL seems to move around a bit inside the chassis whereas they are firmly kept still in place on the 2000 and also the pads on the XL seem thinner and less firm than the 2000.
Also the buttons (F1 etc) on the 2000 seem more solid whereas on the XL they seem a bit "rattly" and I would imagine more prone to possible failure.
Of course this may be just my unit, others may be fine.
The last thing, and its only superficial, but the paint job on the 2000 is much nicer and brighter- the 2000XL seems dull by comparison.
Basically I love my 2000 and will be devastated to let it go, but as I’ve mentioned I need the extra features of the XL, (or at least I think I do, ha ha).
I'd be interested to see other opinions from people who've had experience of the 2 units.
