Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By seymorskinner Thu Sep 27, 2007 7:44 am
I am an old MPC-60 and 3000 user (stupid enough to sell those beauties when computer software became popular) and want to buy an MPC again. I still have lots of MPC60 and 3000 SEQ disks. Akai doesn't answer this question and SOS wrote the XL can read these files. Does someone know for sure? Also, is there any software available which would convert MPC SEQ files into standard midi files? Many thanks for your help.

I thought that sequence files from mpc were standard ones... :?: Aren't they ?

I think my questions has been a bit misunderstood: I am considering buying a MPC-2000XL, so I wanted to know whether or not theMPC-2000 XL could read my old MPC-60 AND MPC-3000 files (SEQ only) which I still have on floppy disk. Sounds/samples are no problem.

My second question was whether there is a program (WIN) which would convert MPC SEQ files into Midi standard files without having any MPC unit.

Thank you guys!

First off I didn't misunderstand your question.
Sounds/Samples are no problem. Really? Then how are you gonna load them into the XL cause they don't work with an XL. It's not even gonna read your sequence files.

Second NO there is no program that is gonna change your SEQ files to Midi.

Interesting reply. By "Sounds/Samples are no problem" I meant I am not interested in loading them, only interested in SEQ. Thanks for your answer.

2kxl can read .SND
2kxl can load .SET
60/3k can save .SEQ also as .MID can't it?

Rohan (mpc3000le) has GOOD details on all of this though..

Well, SOS wrote in 1999 2000XL "sequence compatible with previous MPCs" (incl. 60/3000) http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/dec99/a ... pc2000.htm
but I read somewhere else it doesn't, incl. on this board. I think I better give up on the idea and buy a used 3000 to be 100% save.

Thanks anyway.

Where going from 2000/2000XL to MPC3000 is concerned:

LAMPDOG was making reference to this thread:

Where going from MPC3000 > 2000/2000XL is concerned.

2000XL is supposed to load the SEQ, PGM and SND from a 3K.

Rohan.
