HARD DRIVE NOT SAVING SAMPLES!!!

I Just bought a hard drive for my MPC 2000xl and I can't get it to save samples. It will save sequences, and programs (without the samples) fine but not the actual samples. When it goes to save the samples it brings up the disk read error !!! code and wont continue. I did not recive any instructions on how to properly set up the SCSI hard drive and the MPC manual is pretty vague so any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

if it saves everything else I don't see why it wouldn't save ur sounds. if you're saving all programs and sounds (APS) OR SAVE A PROGRAM AND SOUNDS (PGM) then it shouldn't give an error.

and why a read error? shouldn't it be writing the data to your drive?

not sure bout this one. have u tried a different drive?

Well it will save a program but when it gets to the first sound it wont save it. It starts saving it and I can even hear the hard drive processing the data but then the disk read error comes up and it stops. The sequeence and program that it is saving is just a midi pattern from a key board which is not actual soud data. I'm loading the whole beat from a 1.44MB floppy disk but I don't know why that would make a difference. I bought the hard drive so I would not have to use 20 or more disks to save a beat but now it wont let me save samples.
