Help! MPCXL & Turntable issue.

I just got my turntable & Dj mixer (Numark TT1650 & NumrkDM950). I hooked everything up right, I hope, but I'm getting this funky loud noise when I go into the sample menu.

This how I got everything together.

TT to dj mixer>dj mixer output to mackie 1202 VLZ>mackie 1202 to MPCXL.

I have the dj mixer in a channel. Right now I have the Mackie Main Out going into the MPC. Is that correct?

That seems weird to me for some reason.

try turning the volume down n both the mixer and the rec volume on the mpc

Use an Aux send for the MPC sample input, or the tape out, or a talkback if you have one.

I tried to put AUX send, but that didn't work. Main out is the only one that I'm getting sound from.

I turn the Rec Volume and that work for getting rid of the funky sound.

Yeah. I do.

If I didn't, what would that do?

try setting the monitor field(upper right hand corner) to off or to one of the 8 outs if you have it...does that fix anything?

Did you turn up the Aux send knob on your TT channel?

Better to use the tape out I think. You do have the TT preamped or a line level right?

I put the cables from the MPC into the Aux send on the Mackie. I still wasn't getting any sound. Then I notice the Aux button on the channel that has the dj mixer setup to was turn down. I turned it up and boom....There was Music ! ! !

Why? Will there be a difference in sound and quality?

Not really, but you don't lose an aux.

The DM950 is cool so far. I don't have any regrets in purchasing it.
