Oh Sh!T, I'm taking the leap. I'm adding a Card Reader to my MPC2000... I've already accessed the SCSI out to loopback to the card reader via a DB25 to SCSI adapter.

What a headache! But, it's gonna rock!

you know you couldave went to scsiforsamplers.com and they have that card reader with a crap load of options. designed specifically for the 2000classic. that way you dont have to solder all those points which is risky. you can use your excisting scsi out on the mpc.

I'm familiar with the site you're talking about however their hardware was a little too bulky and pretty expensive. Plus, I'm fairly confident in taking on the project. I've done a lot of D.I.Y. and moddind to other pieces of equipment. This way it will be nice and compact. Thanks though...

No one is so polite to answer me please? Id like to get a card reader in my 2k xl but dont want to waste money and in italy i cant find any help.

Is that good for xl (internal ide channel and so on)? Or can u please tell me where can i find a workin reader to buy?? I searched the forum already but im missin it. Lampdog maybe you? heeeelp

How exactly did you do this mod? Sounds like you did it a slightly different way than whats mentioned in the thread ? made detailing the mod.Also does your scsi port in the back still function?

Cool bro, thanks. I do have 3.2 also but I choose to flash m3.1 from the earlier read-only version. I do have it working with windows xp though. But, I might just flash it again with 3.2 anyway.

Out of curiousity, are you able to see multiple partitions with xp and mpc? Or, just one partition on your pc? That's my current problem... I want multiple partitions that both can see? I just recently re-formated it with FAT (not FAT32!) formating so there's no partions... 1GB. Both can see that.

Yeah, I did do it different then some of the other mods out there. I really didn't want to solder a buttload of contacts so what I did instead, was add an additional db25 port right above the SCSI port. So, I just loopback into the unit. Then inside I used a DB25 to SCSI 50pin adapter. So, all I needed to solder was two contacts for power. So it was really simple.

BTW... Yes I can still access external SCSI Devices. I have a external SyQuest Drive.

When you described this mod, I was picturing a hole cut in the body with a giant external SCSI cable coming out, and then feeding back into the hole.
That looks really good. Nice one.
