problem formatting cf card in 2000xl mcd

i just picked up a 2000xl with a built-in card reader....i can't for the life of me figure out how to format a card. i pop it in, press shift/load. i've tried to select the appropriate device in the resulting screen, as well as attempting in the setup screen. no matter what i try (floppy, scsi 1-7, f-rom) it just says "no floppy device!!". obviously i'm doing something wrong (or the reader is broken).....i'd greatly appreciate any help on this...thanks

first off, card reader is not a floppy. your card reader should show up as Device:ATAPI. glhf

yes....but atapi doesn't show up as a choice for "device"....since the card reader came pre-installed, this is a bit troubling. would that mean the reader is broken?

dunno man. open it up and make sure the ribbon is plugged in. if the reader doesnt flash a light on start up, power might also need to be connected.

several other people on here have had problems that led back to the ribbon coming undone over time.

i opened it, and the ribbon was indeed disconnected! upon connection, atapi is found. thanks so much for your help! now i can actually save a beat.....
