Right now I'm doing everything with the MPC without the computer. I see all these "beatmakers" using VSTs, thats what I don't understand. How to use VST with my keyboard and at the same time still be using my MPC to sequence drums, while taking advantage of computer software. How to connect everything is my question.

Appreciate any wisdom on this

I read up on that, seems like I need a FAST LANE USb 2in/2out. That hooks my keyboard and MPC to computer. I talked to a dude from Sweetwater, been a musician for about 20 years. He recommends the program SONAR, which is like $400, is there better software that mpc headz use?

cubase is my pick. Prob the most popular and very simple yet powerful, plus they do the le versions which are really cheap but aren;t too limited. I find sonar a bit complex. If your on a mac, get logic instead.

For mac or PC pro tools is the most respected, and pretty much used in all commercial studios, so traditionally, if you can afford it get pro tools. only prob is you have to use their hardware aswell.
