i got a mpc 2000xl and i have a flash card with tons of drums on it. when i press shift load it repeatedly says no scsi device and wont load the flash! CAN ANYONE HELP???

the flash drive would be "atapi" , not "scsi". if you cycle through your devices it should appear. if not, it isnt being recognized. i had this problem, and it turned out that the ribbon connector for the drive had been lodged loose during shipping. apparently this is not uncommon. i opened the bottom and checked; a simple refastening (it snaps in by hand) and i was able to read and use my card reader with no probs.

by devices do u mean like .pgm .wav like those? or the option below that, because below that is a long black bar and it wont let me scroll through. If it is the disconnect ribbon what do i have to take off to re-connect it?

i really appreciate the help ,
thanks alot!

No. on the right hand side of the screen you will see "device:"next to it put the curser and turn it till it says "atapi" To fix the ribbon take the bottom plate off the mpc and check each side going to the reader and mother board.

there is no option on the right side of the screen that says devices?? on the left in the middle there it says device:f-rom.
there is no atapi option to choose from .. when i scroll through it says scsi(1-7) floppy and f-rom

the only thing on the top right side of the screen is (size= k) like that... i unscrewed the bottom and everything is connected(the ribbon).
so i dont know what the problem is? when i press "do it" to load it does nothing and when i press setup there is an option saiying Auto Loading File type:OFF and it wont let me go down to change it to ON or anything. i dont know what the problem is but its really frustrating!
please help i appreciate the responses.!

is this a 2000xl mcd (blue outside color, with an internal flash drive), or the older tan 2000xl ? if it's the former, you are experiencing exactly what i went through....

I went through something similar i could use my sd slot and it worked but it would not recognize the cf slot. Some how I had a bent pin inside the drive, so that might be it.

ok i took it out again and plugged everything back in and now it works for some reason but .. it only reads one of the 2 cards i have. another question i have though is how come it will only load the noises or the files that are wav. and it wont let me play anything else like pgm. or anything??
